Images will take a small amount of time to load in. This only became an issue once hosted on itch. I had all my files stored locally so I had to mess around with zip folders. Out of all browsers I've tested, chrome works best for the speed the images load. However it still takes from the experience when the images are flickering in.

There's 4 endings by the way. Trial and error will help you find them all.
